On our photo tours, we take pride in bringing you to Iceland's great sights as well as the remote and less known gems. We specialize in small groups where quality and comfort come first.
Our tour philosophy is to focus on the photogenic, at the best locations, following the light. We're informative, providing a personal insight into Iceland's extraordinary nature and culture, and, of course, to have a great adventure. Our tours are led by native Icelanders with extensive experience as tour guides and photographers. We carefully select our hotels based on good food, service and location.
With more than a decade of experience, we've honed our skills in maneuvering jeeps and flying over Iceland through areas including remote and rugged terrain. Our modified trucks are all at your disposal, making Iceland Photo Tours the right choice for photographers who wish to travel to exotic locations. Our spacious modified trucks will get us safely over streams and rivers and unpaved roads to places where few venture. Our tours are aimed at small groups to ensure quality. We specialize in private tours, and those you find on our webpage can be modified to fit your needs. During summer and autumn on our highland tours, we go deeper into Iceland's marvelous nature, using the light to our best advantage, while exploiting the most favorable weather conditions. We rate our tours into Iceland's rugged highlands as easy to moderate. Most of all, we have fun, get great photographs and make the most every extraordinary moment.
The tours are set up with all accommodation and meals included. We take lunch packs into the field and even dinner in the same fashion, as needed. We also cater to any dietary requirements. All hotel rooms have private bathrooms. At times we depart very early to reach the more popular locations before the usual influx of tourists and, of course, to capture the good light. Due to the increase in tourism in Iceland over the past few years, we limit our visits to the well-known, often overcrowded sites, focusing more on less known, though equally (and sometimes more) stunning locations.
We welcome photographers of all skill levels. Our photography tours are aimed at maximizing the time spent in the field. We stay out long when the light and weather entreat us and try to find time to rest until bad weather passes. In the field, we are poised to advise on perspective and on long time exposures for the Northern Lights and waterfalls, for example. At appropriate times along the way, we explain about Iceland‘s history and geography.
Pick up and drop you off is at any hotel in the Reykjavik area.
The Spring Around Iceland is aimed at landscape photographers who may also have an interest in bird photography. During this tour we will see the largest bird cliffs in Europe, many photogenic waterfalls in Iceland, beautiful streams and rivers, the largest glacier in Europe in Vatnajökull Glacier National Park, icebergs, columnar basalt formations, black sand beaches, mud pots and hot springs, lava fields, the Icelandic horse, sheep and a variety of Icelandic countryside. Over all a great introduction to Iceland.
This tour takes you on the most primitive roads that are only open in the late summer when the snow has melted. You will visit exotic places hard to find and hard to get to. Some people call them secret places. Last year's customer emphasized, " This is not just a photo tour, this is an adventure!"
Iceland's highland area is an exceptional place to photograph. The landscape is full of contrast and the light and colors are always changing. The mountains attract clouds, and the sun's rays often stream through the layers. Highlights of this tour are the colorful mountains in Landmannalaugar, various craters and lava fields, and the black and brown hyaloclastite mountains. You will visit black and red volcanic sand dunes, streams, luminous moss patterns, waterfalls and secret places that few get to see, deep in the highlands. With growing tourism in Iceland, we have made the highland tours where you can escape from the crowds, our specialty. We travel along remote dirt roads. We understand the weather there, to know where best to be in bad and then good weather situations. Coming at this time of year, under the right conditions, we might even capture the Northern Lights.

No other tour takes you to as many diverse and exotic landscapes like this one. We start by going along Kjölur Road from the southern interior to North Iceland. We return by going south via Sprengisandur road across the center of the island, known as the "heart of Iceland," visiting the most spectacular places. If luck has it weather-wise, we will take an aerial photo flight over southern highlands' most amazing pearls.
