Three day Photo Safari to South Iceland

Departures upon demand all year (except July and August)
3 days – 2 nights

About the tour:

In this three-day tour you will get to photograph all the best that south and southeast Iceland has to offer; spouting hot springs and Geysir, two national parks, Vatnajökull Europe‘s largest Glacier, Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, lava fields, black sand beaches, columnar basalt formations, waterfalls and what ever might come our way and looks interesting. Key word is to be flexible because you never know which part on the way is going to look great that day. It’s not always about locations; it’s about sky, formations and light. If you have limited time but would like to get the first taste of photographing in Iceland – then this is the tour.

Be most welcome!

Haukur Snorrason photographer.

Day 1: Golden Circle and the South Coast

Thursday

We will pick you up from your hotel in Reykjavík around 9 and drive to the national park Thingvellir, the first place in Iceland to receive UNESCO‘s nomination of world heritage. From Thingvellir we will set the course to the natural sights of the spouting Geysir area and the beautiful waterfall Gullfoss. Having visited these places we drive through South Iceland with a stop at Seljalandsfoss waterfall and head for our first overnight stop at Hrífunes Guesthouse which is located between the villages Vík and Kirkjubæjarklaustur.

After a good breakfast we will drive further east to Vatnajökull National Park. Vatnajökull, Europe‘s largest glacier, has many outlets that we will get close to. We will stop in Skaftafell and make a short hike to Svartifoss waterfall. From Skaftafell we will continue to the famous Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon with its floating icebergs. We will then return to our cozy guesthouse in Hrífunes where we will relax and enjoy Hadda‘s home cooking.

Day 3: Black sand beach and waterfall

Sunday

We leave beautiful Hrífunes behind and head back towards Reykjavik through South Iceland.
